This is not in the spirit of partnership. We have seriously conveyed to them [the US] that you could lose an ally. You can’t afford to alienate Pakistani people. If you’re choosing to do so it will be at your own cost.
Hina Rabbani Khar, Pakistan’s foreign minister, responding to yesterday’s blunt accusation at a Senate hearing by Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Mike Mullen that Pakistan is allied with the Haqqani network, using it as “a veritable arm” in Afghanistan.
