Clashes continue in Cairo. This photo, posted to the Al Jazeera English live blog for Egypt, was taken by Tarek Shalaby at about 7AM Cairo time this morning (GMT+2) on Mohamed Mahmoud Street. This street leads to the interior ministry and has been a site of fighting this year between riot police and protesters.
A few hundred Egyptian mothers marched on parliament to demand an end to violence and to brutality against activists and demonstrators, as well as to call for an end to military rule. Follow #egymothers on Twitter or check out these videos.
Ahmed Maher, an important activist and co-founder of the April 6 Movement, was injured outside the tax ministry while trying to negotiate an end to the protests. He has been hospitalized with a concussion and a skull fracture.
Private Egyptian TV station 25TV is drawing ire because it gained unprecedented access to the riot police, and showed their point of view. Al Jazeera English is reporting that some activists have discovered that the TV reporter responsible is himself a former police officer named Ahmed Ragab.
